What the doctor says

Neurofeedback coaxes the brain to abandon rigid patterns of thought, emotion or behaviour. In their stead come a spacious freedom, and the luxury of choice.

As a doctor and a client of neurofeedback I have found:

  • Adaptability, flexibility, calm: these become the norm.
  • Your listening is closer and more attentive to nuance. Your speech becomes more logical, eloquent and persuasive.
  • Intelligence is no longer hampered. Consolidation of new skills and information is enhanced.
  • Even your physical actions display greater grace and rhythm.
The brain, uniquely, is the learning organ. Neurofeedback teaches the brain to positively change itself after which there is no limit to your capabilities.

Testimonial from Mina, Eli's mother

Eli is a 10 year old boy. Why did he come in? Eli's attention span, or his lack of attention span was the problem; his inability to concentrate for periods of time, and his inability to get his work done, either at home or at school. He has been taking OT and Speech Therapy since he was four years old. Last year I didn't think he was going to get any more from OT and had to explore another avenue. From a lay person's point of view, Neurofeedback made sense. I have had back surgery and the OT I worked with said that the neural system had to recalibrate – so the brain had to retrain and relearn to work within its optimal setting.

When he had to do his schoolwork, Eli became frustrated. He would cry even before he tried to do the work. He would straight away say he can't do it. He had low confidence. Eli would sometimes bring home his maths and language workbooks, and the work was never done. And he didn't like doing extra homework

Since doing the Neurofeedback training, the biggest change for Eli is that he is more confident in himself, not as impulsive to reply. He is more thoughtful in his responses. He is able to sit and do a homework sheet without having to take a break. I think his focus is more direct. He will attempt to do the work now. He is not intimidated by giving it a go. When he first started doing his times tables with him, you would have thought I was murdering him, he would sit and cry and repeat that he can't do it. He did Kumon but didn't like it. Now he can retain what he has learned, and knows his times tables.

From 'no focus' to 'top of class'

The neurofeedback program was brilliant. He started the program in year 9, and was just not focusing. He couldn't stay long enough with the work he was doing. His teachers said he was bright and knew the work, but didn't get it done. Now, seven years later he just graduated in Science with first class honours, and is now studying Law. In one year he topped his class. He has done extremely well at University. His application hasn't deteriorated, in any way. I am very happy with the way he's going.

Persistent concentration!

Before doing neurofeedback my son had attention and focusing difficulties. If he didn’t succeed, he wouldn’t persist. He would give up easily. He was restless and couldn’t concentrate; he couldn’t stay on task. He had problems with reading and memory.

Once he started doing neurofeedback the teachers noticed a difference straight away. He improved in concentration and was able to finish tasks. Once he could follow instructions, the whole experience at school improved; he was a much happier child.
